About our service

We offer a service for patients in Primary Mental Health Care who are having moderate difficulties with stress, depression, anxiety, low self esteem, post traumatic stress disorder and or other emotional problems.

Our appointments are offered within surgery opening hours. We have an opt in system for patients referred to our service, and currently we operate a waiting list system, the length of waiting time varies across East Devon.

Confidentiality

Psychological Therapy / Counselling is by it’s very nature strictly confidential. If your therapist has concerns about your safety or that of others, then due to a ‘Duty of Care’ they will need to inform your GP and or other appropriate agencies. This would be done with your knowledge and of course you are free to see what your therapist has written.

Cancelling Appointments

There are vast numbers of wasted appointments due to patients not letting the surgeries know they are unable to make or no longer wish to attend for their appointments. Please let the surgery know as soon as possible if you have to cancel. They can then offer the appointment to someone else. This also helps us to manage the long waiting times more efficiently.

Patients who miss or cancel at short notice more than one appointment will generally be discharged.
